INSTALLATION
The goal of this semester-long group project was to raise awareness and respond to a chosen contemporary issue through an installation of art.
INITIAL CONCEPT COLLAGE
BLACK AND WHITE SKETCH

STUDY MODELS

The individual components of this project each marked different steps of the design process and contributed unique and valuable insight to important decisions regarding the final product. Through the collage, I extensively explored numerous aspects of the initial concept and overarching ideas. Through the study models, I considered a wide range of potential materials that could possibly be applied to the final product. Through the sketch, I visualized the installation site and how patrons could potentially interact with it.
FINAL INSTALLATION
"SEVERED LIMBS"
In my final installation, I combined and integrated the successful aspects of my previous projects to deliver a powerful visual commentary regarding the neglect and destruction of wildlife and habitats as a consequence of deforestation. The stump itself portrays the direct result of deforestation and, in light of this installation, a severed limb. The red and white paper symbolize flesh and bone and its rolled configuration imitates the natural rings of a tree. Its use also symbolizes the commercial objectives behind deforestation, as paper is a leading product of the timber industry. The bloodied animal print fabric is representative of specific species that are endangered due to deforestation: the tiger and leopard.
