BOOK COVER

The goal of this project was to redesign the cover of an existing book based on a topic related to the student’s intended major; the focus being how the book's contents and theme could be communicated through visual design elements.

As my intended major is Interior Architecture, I selected the book Brutalist Italy by Roberto Conte and Stefano Perego, which depicts and analyzes the history of concrete architecture and brutalism throughout Italy. For my cover redesign, I illustrated two brutalist-style concrete structures from the reading that particularly caught my eye due to their unique shapes and styles. To stay on brand with brutalism’s harsh and rigid aesthetic, I made use of sharp lines, red color accents, and bold fonts.
